How it Works:
NeurOptimal® works by providing real-time feedback to the brain in the form of music. When the brain is about to make a change (such as mood, heart rate, thoughts, rate of breath, movement, etc.), there is a "flutter." The machine senses these flutters and creates a brief break in the music. There will be hundreds of audible and inaudible breaks during the session. In hearing the music/breaks, the brain starts to see its activity, allowing it to uniquely self-adjust and optimize its own function. NeurOptimal® neurofeedback is non-invasive and does not involve external stimulation; which is not the case for all types of neurofeedback systems, making NeurOptimal one of the gentlest and most natural neurofeedback systems on the market.
Overall, each session is 50 minutes, with the actual neurofeedback session lasting around 33 minutes, during which the individual lies back and relaxes or sits in a comfy chair reading. The 15-minute counseling portion can focus on helping you to develop coping or calming tools, monitor symptoms to help you see your progression/change, and or allow you to speak about certain struggles you are experiencing. The counseling is meant to be supportive, relaxing, and non-invasive. You can share as much or as little as you would like. The goal is to help you reach your goals without any stress.
NeurOptimal® offers a holistic approach to brain wellness, focusing on individualized self-regulation. Whether seeking stress relief, improved sleep, or enhanced cognitive performance, NeurOptimal® aims to support users on their journey to optimal brain function. It is up to the individual as to how many sessions they feel are beneficial; however, most commit to 10 sessions in a 5 to 10 week timeframe.
